Cobra Kai Season 6 Recap
Cobra Kai season 6 is the very last of the series, if you don’t know what show is about. It’s based on 1984 Karate Kid movie starting Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, William Zabka and Martin Krove. The Karate Kid is based on Robert Mark Kamen life of getting bulled in school. Kamen was unhappy with school life and learn martial arts from a strict teacher that use it for violence. He moves to Japan to study karate from a sensei that doesn’t speak English. Henceforth, Kamen wanted to create a movie based on his life. Which Kamen was Daniel LeRusso, John Kresse (has his first teacher) and Miyagi as the second sensei from Japan. Cobra Kai takes place after The Karate Kid 3 but fourth movie is not mention.
Note: There is a new The Karate Kid movie featuring Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio coming in 2025 called “Legends”. Its been a while since I watch the last Karate Kid movie with Jaden Smith. Anyways, let’s recap season 6 of Cobra Kai, after season 5 Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang prepare for a karate tournament called “Sekai Taikai”. Major characters Robby, Miguel, Tory and Sam relationship was rocky throughout this season 6. Robby tries to make amends with Kenny, Johnny thinking about taking about Cobra Kai brand from Kreese. Chozen is still heartbroken because Kumiko didn’t love him anymore but as a friend. Kreese retake Cobra Kai with Kim Sun-Yung to go to Sekai Taikai. He also goes on a journey to retrieve a family knife called “eunjando”.
Training Arc Not
Miguel, Demetri, Hawk and Brucks takes down a fraternity due to no letting Kyler in. Johnny gets a sales job at LaRusso Auto Group. Kreese trains a delinquent named Kown Jae-Sung and becomes the later. Johnny and Carmen expecting a baby, meanwhile, Daniel discovers Miyagi started a boxing gym and wanted for assault in 1947. Miyagi-Do dojo learns about Sekai Taikai is in Barcelona with only six competitors are allowed to join. In order to select the six, Jonny suggest battle royale by getting rid of each other flags. Robby, Miguel, Sam and Tory advances while others capture two flags for final lineup. Keen accuses Anthony of spiking his water but was really Devon. Tory encounters Kresse about not trusting Miyagi-Do at Medical Center.
Four final members fight it out to see who team Captain is. Tory finds out that her mother passed away from blood clot. Robby defeats Miguel to represent male Captain of Miyagi-Do, while Sam is female captain because Tory deflected the team. Jonny and Daniel had an argument and a falling out due to each other teaching. While Hawk takes Tory spot and Miyagi-Do arrives in Barcelona for Sekai Taikai tournament. Robby learns that Tory join Cobra Kai due to Kreese influence. Afterwards, Miyagi-Do has the day off and Robby is shaken up by Tory betrayal. Daniel and Johnny meet Iron Dragons captain Wolf and day of the tournament. There is a “Captain’s War” which four members of each team must protect their captain from elimination.
Sekai Taikai Shenanigans
During second event of the tournament, Daniel gets a message from Serrano claiming to be a former Sekai Taikai contestant and abduct him. Miguel and Robby get into an argument about role of Captain. Devon feels remorseful and admits to Johnny that she sabotages Kenny. Miyagi-Do advances to next round and Johnny return him due to Carmen’s pregnancy. Miguel goes with Johnny ask Amanda to contact Kenny to replace him. Kenny states he has no interest apart of the team. Zara gets jealous of Tory and seduce with Robby, Kenny and Anthony gets into a fight along with Sam meeting Axel on a Beach. Jonny and Miguel make their way back to Barcelona due to Carmen. Daniel and Kreese find out that Sensei Wolf is working for Terry Sliver.
During a flashback, Sliver recruits Sensei Wolf and promise to pay his debts in exchange for buying Iron Dragons dojo along with destroying Miyagi-Do. In present, Devon apologized to Kenny and other team distrust him because of Sliver. During a tag team match, they refuse to Kenny causing him to lose. Kenny refuses Sliver’s offer and helps them win next event after Robby tagged him. Jonny and Chozen steals eunjando from his locker room and frame Sliver. Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai ended with Robby defeating Kwon advancing to Championship round. Sliver hands Daniel envelope that shows Miyagi unalive his opponent in Sekai Taikai. Daniel having nightmares about Miyagi’s past. Cobra Kai gets a second chance due to Tiger strike using drugs and gets disqualified.
No Holding Back
After series of matches between Cobra Kai, Iron Dragons, Miyagi-Do and Furia De Pantera. Cobra Kai Kwon uses a cheap shot to Robby, Miguel comes to help and gets knock down by Axel. Gunther tells every to get off the mat but knocked out by Sensei Ivanov. A huge brawl starts as sensei and team members fighting against each other. Kreese fighting Sliver and Jonny intervenes to help him. Kwon gets eunjangdo and goes after Axel but gets impale in the chest. This cost Gunther to cut the feed, afterwards there was a funeral for Kwon. Sliver wants Gunther to resume Sekai Taikai, but if all senseis agree. Kreese tells Sung-Yung, he quits Cobra Kai and will not return to Sekai Taikai. Sliver meets up with Danial and Johnny about his illness along with resuming Sekai Taikai. Da-Eun kills her grandfather and Kreese make amends to Johnny.
Board of Sekai Taikai agrees to hold it in Valley, while Hawk and Demetri developed a AI training simulation to help Robby beat Axel. Jonny hears the news that Carman is in labor and give birth to a girl along with naming her after Johnny’s mother. During day of Sekai Taikai, Robby gets his leg broken by Axel due to sensei’s wolf influence. After some mixes up with Miyagi-Do, Johnny takes back Cobra Kai having two members Tory and Miguel. Tory beats Zara and Miguel gets revenge for Robby after defeating Axel. After the match, Axel quits Iron Dragons due to treatment of wolf. Kreese and Sliver fight but ends of both men getting blowed up on a yacht. Johnny faces Wolf and wins leading Cobra Kai the champions.
Cobra Kai Thoughts
In the end, all the characters walk their own paths. While Daniel and Johnny collab to train students in the series ending. Cobra Kai season 6 was a spectacle and teaches us to make amends on your mistakes. For example, Mr. Miyagi past and Kreese mistreating of others. Johnny and Daniel always fight and had disagreements. I love the Sekai Taikai arc because it feels with drama and suspense. Sadly, this is the final season of Cobra Kai, but I think it should have ended here. Chozen is so funny in this season and try to find love. I never was a huge fan of The Karate Kid but really enjoy this series. Let me know what you think of this season of Cobra Kai in the comments.
