What is Epic Mickey Remaster?
Epic Mickey Remaster is developed by Junction Point Studios and publishing is run by Disney Interactive Studios. The game is released in November 2010 for Nintendo Wii before Epic Mickey Rebrushed re-released in September 2024. Epic Mickey plot is about Mickey Mouse causing mischief in Yen Sid studies and getting transported into Wasteland. Forgotten Disney like Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Mad Doctor along with The Blot makes Mickey Mouse quest to undue the damage he done more difficult. Epic Mickey is a 3D platformer that similar to Super Mario 64 along with Infamous series. Players travels through levels based on Walt Disney World rides and attractions like Tomorrow Land along with it’s a Small World. Mickey is guided by Gus (based on Disney Gremlin shorts) and offers insights on how to progress through the game.
Mickey has to save Gus’s fellow Gremlins and assists him as well. There is some enemies called Beetleworx that hinder Mickey progress, there are ways to defeat them. Mickey has two fluids, thinner (green) and paint (blue) that he uses with his brush. Thinner is to remove, and dissolve enemies. While paint can restore, it makes enemies friendly and more. Mickey can use spirits as well and spin attacks. Players can take on bosses like different variants of Pete, they can choose to thin or paint them as well. Based on the player’s choice different missions and story will change. During your adventure, Mickey can collect e-tickets, films based on old Disney cartoons and concept sketches throughout the game.
Nostalgic Factor
While I was playing Epic Mickey Rebrushed for the first time, the game was very nostalgic for me. I remember watching House of Mouse which showcases older Disney cartoons from 60s. Personally, I never seen a lot of them growing but Looney Tunes, Popeye and many others. The game has Steamboat Willie, which is a classic Disney cartoon and now public domain. Mickey can jump through different projector screens based on his cartoons. While in Mean Street, you can talk to residents to complete side quests and earn awards like Power Sparks. Power Sparks can be collected by completing objectives and opening new worlds. Players can use tickets to skip levels and shortcut through the game.
Depending on the player’s choice and how they want to complete the game. Personally, I just started playing the game this month. Hopefully, I will get a good or bad ending because of my choices. Anyways, Epic Mickey remaster is a fun game and perfect for Disney lovers out there. I remember playing some Disney games like Lion King, Speedstorm along with Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers. One day, I will play Disney Dreamlight Valleyin the near future, speaking of that, there was easter egg in Mickeyjunk Mountain level with The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse on SNES. Talk about Nostalgia and also Mickey Mania: The Timeless Adventures of Mickey Mouse which has some influence in the game. Epic Mickey was created thanks to merging NBC Universal and Disney along getting the rights for Oswald.
Is Epic Mickey Remaster Good?
Epic Mickey remaster is an amazing title with beautiful visuals done by Powerhouse Animation Studios. In game cutscenes remind me of Saturday morning cartoon with limited voice acting. Gameplay is very vivid, and the game has some creative aspects that make it stand out. Oswald’s character is forgotten and very jealous of Mickey’s success. He starts off initial antagonist of the game because of that but later felt remorse. I have been to Disney World in the past with my family back went I was in High School. Nowadays, Disney is very expensive to go to. My first playthrough was a walk in the park for me. Camera was never an issue for me, and I don’t know length of the game. Love how you can shop for items, get fluid capacity went defeating bosses.
The sequel allows co-op, but I don’t know Epic Mickey 2 The Power of Two and Power of Illusion will get a remastered. Levels are very challenging and help it stand out for beginners of platformers. Instead of playing one path, players can do multiple playthroughs to get a certain outcome. I didn’t know about that at first went I realized it while playing. Epic Mickey got some wacky characters and things you love from older days. I know some game developers make old school cartoon games like Cuphead and more. Psychonauts 2 had some creative level designs as well. Anywho, Epic Mickey Rebrushed is a must-have for Disney fans. I didn’t come across any issues with the game.

Purple Lamp and Junction Point Studios know how to be creative went it comes to action-adventure games. Remake uses Unreal Engine 4 which gives it a solid touch and soundtrack makes you can relieve your time at Disneyworld. Art style pay homage to classic Disney cartoons giving them life-like expressions. Kingdom Hearts was cited to be influenced in developing this game. There is a prequel comic “Epic Mickey: Tales of the Wasteland by Marvel, it revolves around Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and more from collection edition. What are your thoughts on Epic Mickey remaster?
