What is Invincible Vs?
Invincible Vs is a fighting game developed by Quarter Up based on Roberk Kirkman’s comic book, who is known for The Walking Dead franchise. The series is about half-human viltrumite boy named Mark Grayson, learning how to use his powers and heritage. Mark has a father named Nolan Grayson and mother of Debbie Grayson. During the series, Mark meets characters like Atom Eve (later becoming his wife), Cecil Stedman (who is similar to Marvel’s Nick Fury) and his step brother Oliver Grayson. This series is very gory and violence just like Mortal Kombat (which Onmi Man was a dlc character in) along with The Boys. Right now, Invincible tv show is airing season 4 and yet to watch it. I have watched the last season where Mark faces conquest, feel free to read that review.
Invincible Vs open beta was announced and slated for April 9-11, 2026, I am happy to get my hands on it. I did signed up for closed alpha but didn’t get accepted nor email back from the developers. Anyways, in the open beta, there were two available modes versus online and training. The game had tutorial mode for newcomers to fighting games but I found myself conflicted with controls in the game. Dash button is one button along with boost (which operates like EX moves like Street Fighter). Just like 2XKO and DNF Duel along with Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, each character has directional button special attacks. Where is assist moves like counter, active tag and more.
Controls and Characters
There are three attack buttons, light, medium and heavy just like Dragon Ball Fighter Z. Just like Marvel vs Capcom, players choose three characters based on their types. For example, Cecil Stedman is a ranged and Onmi Man focus on balance. In gameplay, there are snap back to focus tag and stage transition (in my opinion a pain to perform in combat). Hyper moves can be performed by pressing heavy, boost and special button. Also, boosts require meter below health bar. In battle, you can dismember opponent with overkill by performing special moves. Sudden death can be active went timer is out as well. Auto combos can be perform using light button just like KOF XV series and very anti-infinite. Invincible does have options for offense and defense in gameplay.
Characters in the open beta were Anissa, Allen the Alien, Battle Beast, Bulletproof, Invincible, Atom Eve, Monster Girl, Rex Splode and Robot. There will be more character as dlc season one pass after launch. Mostly, all the voice actors from animated series reprise their roles such as Steven Yeun and J.K Simmons. Introductions between can be comedic and lore driven in the beginning of the fight. I had notice that developers who is involved in Killer Instinct 2013 remake did this game. Invincible Vs does have that KI vibe like with some Mortal Kombat. I have played this game on April 9, 2026, and played ranked alone instead of viewers. In ranked, you are only allowed to customize your character loadout and others are locked.
Will I Buy this?
Invincible VS was indeed a bloody gore fest and very fun game. Also, I love the stages as well like fighting on the Moon. My favorite characters are Battle Beast and Allen the Alien. I can’t wait to use Conquest and others in the full version of the game. The most satisfying thing is that I made someone rage quit in online matches. Feel free to check it out on my socials but I would recommend this for beginners and those who are fans of Invincible comics. I am hoping to see third-party characters Spawn and Savage Dragon or Kick-Ass. There is an original character named Ella Mental voiced by Tierra Whack, developed by Robert Kirkman and Cork Walker. I have played a lot of 3vs3 tag fighting games in my time, but this was enjoyable at its finest.
I can see Invincible Vs having a strong esports presence, but they will have to tone down the violence. Quarter Up might have an option to toggle off blood or gore to make it family friendly. Single player might have arcade and story mode leading up to final arc. Also, each other has costumes like Zero Suit for Invincible (if you pre-order in advance). Invincible Vs is one of the games I will buy went price drop. In my opinion, fighting games has become easier lately than Street Fighter and Guilty Gear (which season 5 is underway). This should be on the list fighting games for beginners. You will feel right at home playing this game. Trying out what character fits your overall playstyle and going to the lab to improve.
