Cozy Games Are Boring

Some gamers think cozy games are boring, but I understand their frustration because it can be repetitive and overwhelming for players who are new. Animal Crossing New Horizon was my first cozy game I ever played before covid-19 pandemic. During that time in pandemic, player base spiked due to people being social distancing from others. There was a study based on that, feel free to check it out. In Animal Crossing, you can build house, buy furniture and meet new residents. Don’t worry Tom Nook can help you along the way. I used to own Nintendo Switch, and I didn’t regret buying Animal Crossing. While I was live streaming the game on Twitch, there was plenty of viewers that helped me and show me the ropes. I even had a nice message from a viewer (see home page) and I cried.

It was so wonderful and makes me feel great to put a smile on someone face. Afterwards, I got tried of Switch and move back to PlayStation 4 because I miss it. That was my first exposure to cozy games, but it didn’t stop there. Animal Crossing is available now on Nintendo Switch if you want to buy it. Next up was Stardew Valley developed by ConcernedApe, it was a wholesome game operates like Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon style. You play as an unnamed resident in Stardew Valley, during your time, main characters meet townsfolks. You can give them gifts, pursue relationships and go to events. I have play couple of time, but it wasn’t for me. It was an endless grind to nothing, and I haven’t gotten anyway playing that game. I have seen other content creators and streamers playing the game.

Cozy Games are Relaxing

Stardew Valley is available now on PC, Switch, PlayStation, Xbox along with mobile devices. Afterwards, I stumbled upon Palia which was free to play on PlayStation. Palia is about a human that isekai into another world. You play as an unnamed protagonist that journey through Kilima Village, getting to know residents and finding out mystery behind what happens around you. Palia is a massive multiplayer online game (MMO) developed by Singularity6. I found myself enjoying the game and much easily than Stardew. Game developers’ message in-game is about helping others out went needed. The atmosphere was so light-hearted and has representation in the game. In gameplay, protagonist can level up skills like mining, gardening, furniture making and many more. You can build your dream home by completing tasks and expanding your room.

I had some minor complains about there was no marker went doing some quests and had to find them on your own. Nothingness, I had fun with the game and one of the cozy games that really relaxing. Although, I am still new the game but will explore more in the near future. Lasty, cozy games I ever played was Infinity Nikki which was developed by Papergames. Infinity Nikki is basely dress-up mix with open-world aspect just like Genshin Impact. You play as a young girl named Nikki, who journey into another world called Miraland and accompanied Momo. Nikki solves problems and try on new dresses that give her abilities. People argue that Infinity Nikki is not a cozy game, but tone is more like it. You do fight off enemies in the game as well.

Other Cozy Games I Haven’t Play

I want to get back on the game soon and they’re continuing to have new updates. Anyways, I enjoy fishing, catching bugs and groom animals. Don’t get the fashion show to impress residents in Miraland. Infinity Nikki is available now on PlayStation, PC and mobile devices (visit the website to download it). There are some other cozy games such as The Sims, Disney Dreamlight Valley and more. Feel free to buy these games and try them out. I have heard of The Sims franchise and very popular among fans. Dreamlight Valley is about hanging with your favorite Disney characters from past and present. I might check out Dreamlight in the near future but not The Sims. Cozy games is a way to get away from fighting, shooter, horror and sports video game genres.

I understand it’s not for everyone, but certain groups of gamers can enjoy them. Are you tired of waiting for tomorrow or next day for your crops to grow? What about getting material for a DIY project like making furniture? How about waiting until you get special items in your mailbox and complete resident’s request? All these things fall into cozy genre, I get it that during everyday things to build your life in a village gets tiresome and boring. It just like real life, you get up and work to survive another day. Meeting your neighbors and buying nice things to decolorate your home. I don’t understand why people hate them and give them a chance.

Closing

In my opinion, you have to find the right cozy for you. There is some that does have fighting and not much farming. I know you have to grind a lot just like jrpgs and sometimes I have to play it everyday like Mihoyo games. But, don’t you want a game with relaxing atmosphere and soundtrack? I do and there are games like that on different platforms and operating systems. There is nothing like sweet life in the outdoors, what are your thoughts? Do you think cozy games are boring?
