How to Deal with Trolls and Online Bullying as Content Creator

How to Deal with Trolls

How to deal with trolls is a broad subject matter amongst content creators. We deal with them on a daily basis throughout your creative journey. Trolls come from different parts of the internet. There is a scene in Wreck it Ralph Breaks the Internet, where Yesss (voiced by Taraiji P Henson) explains about how internet bring out the worst in people. While Ralph was looking at comments on BuzzTube, he realized that there are good and bad people out there. That’s why being a content creator is, looking at comments and have a thicker skin. There is a saying that “stick and stone may break my bones, but words don’t hurt me”. My advice is that don’t let anyone bring you down on your journey. Some might not have a thick skin but very sensitive to insults online.

They may have experienced bullying at work and school in years. Things happen over the internet like self-harm and feeling worthless. Trolls would say comments like “you need subtitles” and “get off the internet”. Please don’t take these comments to heart because they’re to scare to say it face to face. These people are cowards who hide behind a computer screen to insult others. That person life must suck to take it out on someone. I remember Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur episode went she faces off against a troll but defeated it with kindness. Sometimes that works but blocking them or ignoring them like a big-time famous person. Famous don’t care what people say to them and kept it moving. A lot of content creators should act like that as well.

Racist and Prejudice

In gaming content creator space, there is racism and prejudice toward female gamers. First, I will talk about racism, trolls would call black content creators N word and other delegatory comments. Especially, in the cosplay community, which I am not apart of, but known other content creators who do. What I love about cosplay community is that they don’t lip from no one. Gaming content creators should follow this as well. While in streamer community, they get hate raids and fake artists coming in the chat promoting art. That’s why I took a break from streaming because of that, also working on myself. Female gamers get the most hate because gaming is male dominated industry.

Cinna, Emiru, Elly and Valkyrae being stalked by a guys

Telling them to “go back to the kitchen” or “this is a boy’s game”, first of all gaming is for everyone. Any gender, race and orientation can partake in video games and stop gatekeeping them from enjoying it. I understand you’re salty and getting owned in video games but leave them alone. While on the topic on streamers, there was an incident of four female streamers named Cinna, Emiru, Elly and Valkyrae being stalked by a guy. We don’t know what happen to the guy but all I have to say this. That whole situation was scary, and I wish that didn’t happen to any streamer. You have to be careful who you interact online and protect yourself always. These stalkers will try anything to ruin your life like burning down house and etc.

What is the Solution

Well, there is no easy solution to this problem, but if you don’t create content than its smooth sailing. It doesn’t matter because cam or no camera, you will get insulted because no one is safe from internet. You can’t control what people do on the internet. Haters gotta hate and you can’t make everyone happy. Although, there are people who love you and your content as well. Sure, there is some fake followers and pretenders out there to watch for. If you have a circle of people that enjoy your content than that’s your real friends. I don’t have a lot of friends IRL but has some online. All I have to say is to be yourself and don’t worry about negativity that’s going on the internet. Sometimes we need to unplug social media and touch grass or breath fresh air.

We all not going to famous Tik To star overnight but have to put in the work. Life is not easy but taking care of your mental health is important too. Sometimes internet changes us as well, to a person you’re not set out to be. People put on a mask to hide their true self like a Persona. Some influencers are not legit off and on camera. We don’t know what happen off stream and kind of person they’re. I am very observance of people’s personalities and traits on how they conduct themselves online. Again, I don’t know what happen close doors, but I will keep an eye out. What about doxing? Doxing is another way to ruin someone life but looking where they work and live. There are some bad apples out there that needed to be brought to justice.

Closing

Sometimes doxing can put someone in dangers and fear for their lives.Trolls can be a pain in the rear sometimes, its apart of life and nothing you can’t do about it. They may not like themselves and jealous of someone’s successful like OnlyFans model along with Egirls. Try your best to keep moving forward in your content creation journey. Put a smile on someone’s face and inspire them. That’s why I love doing content creation to make it a better place for others. Tell me what you think of this by commenting down below.
