What is Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Percy Jackson and the Olympians tv show is based on novel by Rick Riordan. The plot is about a young boy named Percy Jackson, a half blood who has human mother and father of Poseidon. Percy can see mythology creatures because of his god heritage. He has trouble fitting in normal life and find answers about his past. Later on, Percy need a Satyr named Grover who act as protector along with Annabeth who is daughter of Athena. While escaping capture by Minotaur and other greek gods aiming to get rid of Percy. Percy Jackson goes to camp of half-blood kids run by Chiron. He is trying to find what is good at and meet Luke (who is a son of Hermes). Clarisse La Rue who is a daughter of Ares and antagonizes Percy.
During half blood camp arc, Percy Jackson can’t get claimed after capture the flag went Annabeth pushes him into the river. He also finds out about water manipulation powers during a field trip at school. Grover and his Sally gets Percy kicked out of school due to being unsafe. Percy does have a weapon that he use to defeat Minotaur and finding Ares. Sometimes, he doesn’t know how to fit into normal society. Percy, Annabeth and Grover is on a mission to find Zeus’s Thunderbolt that was stolen by Kronos. Three main characters goes to retrieve to restore order and prevent a war. Percy meets Hades who purpose to bring back his helm to revive his mother in Tarturus. While fighting Ares to retrieve it and vowing to become an enemy of life.
Percy Jackson’s Trials
Percy goes to look for the shield in Waterland and had to sit on Hephaestus golden throne. Also finding out about Luke’s betrayal and working with Kronos to take down Olympus. Percy travels to Empire State Building to confront Zeus and give back his Thunderbolt. Poseidon surrenders to save Percy from Zeus. Percy Jackon goes to Mississippi River and encounters Nereid, she give him transport pearls to go to Underworld. He also eavesdrops on the Yancy Academy’s headmaster and have dreams but Kronos. He has been through hardships to complete his mission. Did you know that season 1 is based off “The Lighting Thief” book. Percy is trying to get lighting bolt back at all means, even fighting Chimera, Furies and Medusa. Sally Jackson always tell stories about gods and what is heritage is.
Percy has dealt with bullying by other students. He has trust in his friends Grover and Annabeth to complete his quest. He was afraid of being an unclaimed outcast and finding his purpose in life. In season 1, Percy displays courage, determination and willing to protect his friends. He is a demi god due to Poseidon and Sally Jackson. I have watched anime and other tv shows that main protagonists like Naruto being treated like an outcast. Speaking of Greek Gods, I have seen God of War, Smite and Record of Ragnarok. I have my share of geek mythology before but I enjoying this tv series so far.
Percy Jackson and The Olympians Thoughts
Percy Jackson and the Olympians tv series is way better than movies. Season two will adapted “The Sea of Monsters” and season third will be “The Titan Curse”. Right now season 2 is still on-going and its 8 episodes. Cast did amazing just like Lance Reddick (RIP) as Zeus, Walker Scobell (Percy), Leah Save Jeffries (Annabeth) and Aryan Smihadir (Gtover). I would recommended watching this if you haven’t read the book which I haven’t. CGI looks very movie quality and had some issues with the show. I felt sometimes they skip certain part because book is very long. Grover losing his memories has kind of off. There was some subplots was washed away and never came back to established it. Nothingness, Percy Jackson and The Olympians is a great show which has comedy, suspense and drama.
There are 4 more books to go to adapted the whole Percy Jackson series. Overall, I had yet to watch season two yet but it will take a while for produres adapt all the chapters of the series like live action One Piece on Netflix. I forgot to mention that this show reminds me of Harry Potter in some way of form. Storytelling and action scenes is movie like because of the budget that studio offers.
Closing
I will have to wait until season two has finished before viewing it. All episodes runtime is 30-40 minutes because source material of the novel. The show has won a lot of rewards for being faithful to the source material along with writhing. There is some pop culture reference and mild humor like Ares being on Twitter. I can see this show being successful than live action movies and solid reboot of the franchise. Fornite has already have Percy Jackson: Siege of Monsters and podcasts of the show.
