What is Being a Nerd
Being a nerd is a gift and a prestige to have. Don’t let other control your passion and what do think that other should like. I will go and flat out say it “a nerd can become your boss one day”. Nerds are known for being the most intelligent individuals in the planet. They can change the world in my ways possible. Albert Einstein is the smartest man out there and do you call him a nerd. Sometimes nerd don’t have to be smart but obsess with things they enjoy. For example, Japanese anime which the term Otaku come from. Otaku is a term where you are obsessed with a certain thing that one passionate about. Myself, I am considered a gaming and anime otaku because its apart of my life.

Even, I get picked on rarely on this subject, but it helps me in tough times. There is another term for that called “Blerd”. Blerd is another term for “black nerds” and has been grounded also sub-category for nerds.
Nerd Characters
Steve Urkel from Family Matters is considered a blerd, also Cameron from Total Drama Pahkitlew Island. I know Billy from Power Rangers is a nerd as well and brains behind the team. Don’t forgot Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the smartest one out of the four brothers. For my Marvel fans, there is Mister Fantastic, Hawk Pym and many more. In gaming, there is Eggman and Dr. Wily are both mad scientists. You see I mention some characters from pop culture that are nerds.

Anyways, let go back to the topic of what is wrong being a nerd. We all ordinary people who loves different things and get look down for it. Any doesn’t matter if you love Star Trek, My Hero Academia, Game of Thrones and comic books. You are your own person and forgot what people say to bring you down.
Fandom Stand Up
There are different types of fandoms out there like Bronies and many more I can’t think of. Yes, there is some toxicity in any fandom but still family at the end of the day. Even there is bad apples in different fandom and have pointless debates. You are entitled to your own opinions about power scaling and which show is the best or worst. Not everyone will like the same thing as you that’s life. You might have a different taste in anime, gaming and many more than another.

Trust me I been going back and forth with individuals on social media about this. I don’t call people names and belittle them for watching or liking something they passionate about. There are people on social media express their opinions and sometimes get backlash on it. At the end of the day, is that person opinion and you may agree or not.
Nerd out
Anways, us nerds got to convention like Anime Expo, Otakon, Blerdcon and Dreamcon. Anime cons are a safe space for us to be ourselves. You see a lot of cosplayers and fandom coming in one place. Sure, there is some bad apples in cons but it’s a great place to get away from outside world. I have already done an article about cons that you can check out. Nerds are not just for anime, gaming and other multi-media. There are figures, trading cards and many others that have a fandom.

Sports is another one that has fandom. What about math, reading and music is that apart of a fandom? Answer is yes, they’re apart of a fandom and have convention based on them. Don’t worry fashion is about of otaku and fandom culture as well. If people look down on you for this, they can jump off a cliff. Being a nerd is your identity as a human being, and they are success in life.
Closing
Listen, I love being a blerd and may not be smarter than a 5th grader. Anime teaches me meaning of life with its positive message. If someone bad mouths something that’s dear to me in my heart. I wouldn’t talk to them because norms didn’t understand what animation relates to people who been through life changes. Go ahead play DND and what you enjoy doing. Don’t let people think it’s a satanic cult but something that shapes you. I want to say I am happy to be a blerd (nerd). Also, I am happy to share my interest with you all because it brightens my day. Even I face negative criticize online with it comes to my opinions and taste. Going to these cons and playing with other people in video games. I may be an introvert and don’t have much interact with individuals.

Even I have to put my foot down on certain topics and individuals. You are never too old to be a nerd too. Nerdom can be for all ages and I know someone who is the co-founder of a convention is 60 years old that’s a blerd. That’s the magic of nerdom and we all one big family. Myself, I will remain a blerd until my time is up and never quit. What are your thoughts on nerdom in general? Let me know in the comments below. Thank you for reading this blogpost and tune in for more.
