Ultros – Hadoque
Ultros is a metroidvania action adventure game developed by Hadoque. The story is about unnamed protagonist who wakes up on a unknown place. Main character explores this unknown place to find a sword that belong to a spectre named Wallet. Wallet helps the protagonist to find a way out of Ultros. Protagonist must five 7 mouth-breather that keeps the place in line but characters who wants to learn the truth behind Ultros. During gameplay, protagonist can explore, plant and combat enemies along with gaining nutrition to upgrade your skills. Ultros artstyle is very abstract and down by El Huervo who is known for Hotline Miami. The game is very inspired by Nintendo’s Metroid which you can get items like extractor, which use for double jump along with flying and cutting weeds.

You goal is to get out of Ultros before it too late. There is save spots where you can health and upgrade such as more combos. Main controls in the game is jump, roll (for maneuvering between enemies along with countering), eating to grain more awareness for skill tree. After defeating bosses and mouth-breathers, you will lose all your items with loop-system. Loop system is you have to start over again but I understand, its not everyone cup of tea. I got Ultros for free during PlayStation Plus Monthly Games February 2026 and enjoyed it so far. In my opinion, the game is not bad but for folks who love Castlevania and Metroid who seeks a challenge. Ultros is available now on Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X.
Forgotling – Throughline Games
Forgotling is a cinematic action-adventure indie game developed by Throughline Games. The game is set in the same universe as Forgotten Anne (2018) and sequel or prequel. You control Fig who journey in a place where missing object has forgotten for very long time. In the demo, Fig trying to find Sliva his friend but stumble across bandits. Fig fights his way and meets Glass who tells him how to defeat the bandit along with groups. Later on, Fig meets other Forgotlings like shovel and purse that tells him about text. In Forgotten, Fig can defeat himself like flashing or using his fencing method. He can also mine crystals and heal himself with the. Forgotling has some puzzle solving which very easy for beginners. Explore different worlds of Forogtolings and make choice in your journey because game has moral system.

The game has upgrades but it was not present in the demo. Stealth mechanics is available in the game but players must use caution because enemies will lock you out. Also, there are hut that enemies can respawn which will become endlesss and game will be over quick. While being attack, you can roll or block or blind them. Fig can interact with objects and characters on his journey. INA is a Shogi Chess-like game which you have to place the most stones to win. Forgotling is a beautiful game that excess my expectation because I haven’t played Forgotten Anne. Release date is unknown right now but wishlist it on Steam. Make sure to buy Forgotten Anne on Mobile, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Thoughts on Both Indies
Forgotlings is a beautiful game because cutscenes reminds me of Hayao Mikazuki’s work. INA was so much fun and can see a spinoff of the game. During gameplay, I notice some bugs like enemies couldn’t hit me, which was minor for me. Stealth mechanics reminds me of Sly Cooper and I have gotten caught multiple time. There is different grousp mention like Videra, Aufero Servus and more. Fig is apart of Sevus or Sonavi, one of the characters have mention it in the demo. Forgotling is one game I will look out for and never played a cinematic adventure game in years. Ultros felt like a walk in the park for me. Time Loop is an interesting touch to the game but can turn off some players. That means exploring point A and B, also retracing your step with map. El Huervo was inspired by Nausicaa of the Valley Windm H.P Lovecraft and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Loop system is basely karma, which Huervo stated that “one’s action is carried over to the next”. Ultros is a guilt trip and have players aimlessly wander to different parts to learn the truth. Soundtrack is very gloomy and suspenseful went fighting enemies along dialogue. Love gardening system as well, which is innovated way for harvesting health. Art style stands out the most in this game and found myself dazzled by it. Ultros is a great contender for winning a lot of awards for its presentation. Overall, I have enjoyed both games because how they stand out from each other. Both are very easy for beginners along with veterans of the video game genre. I couldn’t heard Forgotling soundtrack during my playtrhough but it visually impressive me.
