VR Gaming – Is it Worth It or Not For You
What is VR Gaming?
VR gaming is short for virtual reality gaming takes people into a new immersive world from non-fictional places. Despite that Nintendo just make a direct in September 2025 and features Virtua Boy Classic. Virtua Boy was released in July 21, 1995 in Japan afterward North America was August 14, 1995. The product comes with controller and displays monocular (it is very similar to 3D glasses). Virtua Boy has limited games like Mario’s Tennis, 3D Tertis and more. Nintendo’s was a commercial failure despite 770,000 units sold alone.
Virtua Boy was the lowest selling console next two Nintendo Wii U. They had complained about headaches, dizziness and eye strain during the release of Virtua Boy. That’s the main pros and cons of vr in general. One of them is dizziness and headaches as well. There is more to this story as well. Speaking of cons of virtual reality gaming, where is a physical discomfort went putting on the headset. Along with motion sickness which occurs went users wear the headset for long periods of time.
Just like Virtua Boy it got limited games instead PC and consoles. Some gamers think VR games are very restricted than disc games. VR equipment does cost a lot of money, such as Meta Quest 3S All-in-One VR Headset $299.00. Sony PlayStation VR2 for $399.99 and HTC VIVE Focus Vision Business Edition VR are $1,450.99, which costs more than your annual salary went working a job. You might find a cheaper option on Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart. Personally, I have no interest in getting this.
Worth It or Not?
I would say that VR gaming is worth it for entertainment value. Some VR games do promote physical activity like Nintendo Wii. Just like gamers from Total Drama series, it improves hand and eye coordination. That being said, because it’s like video games but makes users become active instead of sitting on the couch or chair. There is social isolation as well, if a user doesn’t know what fictional or non-fictional, which feels like a disconnectedness for your loved ones.
PC and consoles games have that effect as well to escape reality. Some gamers calm themselves after long days of work and school. Me included, I use video games to relieve stress and keep my mind off society. That’s how video games change my life for the better.

It keeps me out of trouble and shares my passion with others. I am here to talk about how video games impact my life but virtual reality gaming. There are plenty of media that tackles VR such as Expect No Mercy, VR Troopers and The Matrix. I have seen these shows and movies about virtual reality. They have tackled these issues pretty well in my opinion. I highly suggest giving them a watch or buying DVDs.
My Thoughts on VR Gaming
For me, I am not too huge on virtual reality because I am simply not interested in it. In my lifetime, I have seen people use VR to create shoes, build and teach young students. VR can be used for positive things to help other shape the world. I forgot about The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest that uses virtual reality to reconstruct things in QuestWorld. That show was amazing, but I might talk about Johnny Quest another time. VR gaming has been around in the 90s and became huge in 2010s. You might see VR in tech expo, anime conventions and other gaming events like Gamerscon.

I really do miss E3 but sadly it was shut down during COV-19 Pandemic. In the future, I will be talking about video game events in a future blog post. Back to VR, I can see the innovation and creativity behind it. Virtual reality is a part of the gaming family. I forgot to mention mobile games as well because they’re limited as well. When someone puts on the VR headset and find yourself in a world of endless possibilities. But you are still in your house wondering, are you going to fall down or run into a wall.
After talking off the headset and wonder why it is the same as virtual world. You might see someone go to cyberspace in Scfi movie using VR technology. It might not work in real world but who knows that their tech for it. I can see someone enjoy VR and explore new things and experiments as well. I am not fan huge fan of it but others might have a say so. Aside from the price hike, I can understand why VR gaming is so huge right now.
Closing
Tech space is very innovative and brings a new light to users everywhere. You can go anywhere like reading a book (sorry Reading Rainbow), I really miss that show in the 1990s. Anyways, VR can be used for a lot of other things like medical field went finding a breakthrough for a cure for cancer.
AI can be incorporated into virtual reality in the near future as well. Again, I don’t like VR whatsoever but might have a change of heart in the future. If you don’t want to VR it’s entirely up to you. What are your thoughts on VR gaming and whole culture in the comment below.
