Weirdo is about author Tony Weaver Jr life as he struggles to fit in society and his love for anime and etc. For those who don’t know who Tony Weaver Jr is, I will explain to you. Tony Weaver Jr is an advocate for blerd or nerd culture. He makes uplifting Tik Tok videos on to embrace your inner fandom and love oneself. Tony Weaver Jr grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Elon University. Also, he goes to schools to promote his book and starting organization like Weird Enough Productions. The book is illustrated by Jes and Cin Wibowo, two Chinese Indonesian twins in Jakarta. In the cover of the book is a quote from “a blinding light of a tale about a boy who fights to become himself” – Jason Reynolds. Symbolizing a warrior of light fighting against darkness within oneself.

Tony often gets bullied in school and his cousin comes to defend him. He also captivated with plants due to his father. There is a metaphor about a flower grows and your true self shines. He results to bullying Tony and other literature club members. This basketball player changes his ways due to Tony’s influence and joins him. Together, Tony and his team of literature club members stop the school from being shut down. Tony Weaver Jr become a hero and his story. The book Weirdo is about sharing your passion around others. Don’t be afraid to be who you’re. Tony had to endure so much in his life. He became a symbol of hope and weird in his own way. Weirdo by Tony Weaver Jr has a lot of anime and video game references in it. There is Inuyasha, Jojo Bizarre’s Adventure, Haikyu and many more that fans will catch.
I myself a blerd and deal with bullying and ridcule for other people. There is a term called “norms” which are people who don’t like nerds. Norms live a regular life and don’t understand anything about why people love anime, cartoons and comic books. There is a fandom are out and we go to anime conventions to meet some of them. You have to find the right people to connected with like Tony Weaver Jr has in his book. He found people who are just as nerdy as him. It doesn’t matter how different you are, no one can stop you from being yourself. Yes I am a werido myself that love anime, gaming and many more things. Hopefully, I can see a anime series or movie based on this. He is the founder of Werid Enough Productions and his book in libraries and appear in People Weekly.
