What are Anime Music Artist?
Anime music artists are a group or individual that sings songs about otaku culture. Some artists like Megan the Stallion loves blerd culture and even cosplay on her social media pages. There are some underground artists that I know of such as Kikoblac, VexGhoul, Cymuzik and many more out there. Feel free to check them out on your own time. Anyways, I have seen a lot of musicians that embrace anime culture like Daft Punk’s Interstaller 5555: The 5story of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. This anime music film is based off Daft Punk’s Discovery album which features songs from it. The plot is about a blue-skinned band called The Crescendolls consist of Octave (keyboard), Apregius (guitar), Baryl (drummer) and Stella (bass) getting kidnapped by evil music producer named Earl Darkwood. Who wants to collect 1,000 golden records to rule the universe.

There is one brave astronaut named Shep, who save The Crescendolls from being brainwashed by Earl to make him rich and sign contracts. Interstellar 555 had no dialogue but music along with visual tell the story. My favorite songs of Daft Punk’s Discovery album is Aerodynamic, High Life, SuperHeroes and Too-Long. Leiji Mastsumoto did the character designs, he also did Space Pirate Captain Harlock which Baryl cosplayer in High Life music video. Along with Space Battleship Yamoto and Galaxy Express, Interstellar 555 was aired on Cartoon Network’s Toonami. I remember Midnight Run where this was aired in August 31, 2001. On February 22, 2024, Daft Punk streamed the full film on Twitch in “Daft Punk Day” after duo split.

June 2024, there was a 4K remaster with I which a lot of people didn’t like due to framerate issues. Anyways, Interstellar 555 holds a special place in my heart because there was nothing like this ever done. Afterwards, I been watching anime opening and ending music that excites me. I have done an article about my favorite opening if you want to check it out. There is one artist I have to mention is Gameboy Jones, which he makes anime-inspired music like One Piece and more. Speaking of social media, especially on Tik Tok, there is a lot of original artists had does anime-inspired music. Content creators like myself use these sounds in their videos. I have followed some and engage in their content as much as possible. There is an event last year called “The KickBack”, which is about gaming industry with panel discussions and esports tournaments.
Later on, there is a live performance from blerd music artists, but I didn’t stay for it. There are anime conventions that music artists perform like Otakon 2025. I went to a panel about pop-ldoI group performing along with Plus Ultra Entertainment’s Otaku Overdrive Afterparty with live band playing Naruto openings. Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about DJs as well, I may not know a lot of them but tell me in the comments. I am not much a music fan and don’t listen to a lot of anime artists lately. Myself, I have listened to various genres of music like rap, j-rock, R&B and many more. I haven’t forgotten about video game music too, there are composers that shape the way you enjoy gaming. Well, I am not here to talk about video game music but otaku culture.
What Do I Like About Anime Music
When I watch an anime sometimes, I skipped opening to watch first episode. Depending on the tone and how anime op fits with overall series. There are some anime music artists like Mrs. Green Apple, CreepyNuts and Asian Kung Fu Generation. I will have to mention Samurai Champloo’s opening theme artist Nujabes. Nujabes music is just amazing and incorporates hip hop which I grew up listening from TuPac and Snoop Dogg. Samurai Champloo is one of the anime that has hip hop, the plot is about three major characters Fuu, Mugen and Jin on a mission to find Samurai who smells like Sunflowers. The series was aired on Toonami (Adult Swim) back in 2004. Episode 23 Baseball Blues was the funniest and best episode of the series. I had fond memories watching this show and feel free to check it out.

Back to opening and ending of anime, there are some that have fanservice, goofy aesthetics and sadness. Dandandan has characters dancing like Rihanna (yes, I am talking to you Momo Ayase). If you want a light-hearted series, you got to have your Japanese Idoi singing. Sometimes, opening shows up in the middle of the episode *coughs Kaiju No 8*. When ending is over, you get a preview of the next episode and some mini-gag segments. Anyways, I sometimes listen to the openings and endings but its huge part of anime making it more interesting unlike western cartoons. On that topic of music, what about Kpop, I haven’t listened to it but heard of BTS. Special thanks to Kpop Demon Hunters that I might look into some Kpop in the future. Especially, that Takedown song, I can’t get that out of head.
Closing
If you know any other musicians who write and sing about anime, let me know in the comment below. That’s my take on it and I will continue to listen and look forward some more anime songs. Sometimes I like to get my groove on with some anime soundtracks as well. Anime opening does hype me up on what comes next and expected for a particular series. Thank you for reading my blogpost and tune into the next one from yours truly.
