Why Do People Love Collecting?
The question is collecting a good hobby for everyone, personally some people get turned off and berate others on how they spend their money. You can collect trading cards from anime, sports and other franchises. Did you not forget about Magic the Gathering, Union Arena and Pokemon TCG. Trading cards are very expensive, and people go as far to steal them which is wild. What is wrong with working to earn them to buy them, but some don’t have common sense. Anyways, I have to mention Yu-Gi-Oh franchise, the king of all card games. Yu-Gi-Oh is created by Kazuki Takahashi (who passed away in July 2022), and plot is about protagonist Yugi Mutou who has mystical Egyptian artifact called “Millennium Puzzle” and faces off against other duelists like Seto Kaiba, Maximillion Pegasus and many more.
Yu-Gi-Oh has been popular since its first release in 1996 and spawned several tv shows like Duel Monsters (which I loved). Video games like Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel along with animated film adaptations. The franchise is still on-going and special thanks to Kazuki for being this series to light. There are other card-based animes like Duel Masters, Cardfight Vanguard and Bakugan Battle Brawlers. We have video games based on Trading card games like Shadowverse, Marvel Snap, Heartstone and more. There are local tournaments for card games in your area. Also, you see content creators, unbox trading cards and show them off. Personally, I don’t collect a lot of cards but go Dragon Ball Daima card pack because of YouTube video about content creators left him for.
Are You Too Old for Toys
Moving on from cards to toys, ah man I got something to say about toys. I understand toys are meant for children 12 and under. There are adults who collect figures from your favorite anime, comic books, tv shows and more. I remember buying a Jotaro Kujo figure for $60 at Otakon or Anime USA. That was the first anime figure I have brought but I give it away later on because I didn’t want it anymore. While going to these anime conventions and seeing overprice figurines on display at dealer’s alley. I have seen some people buy them and have them in their videos. There are some content creators that I follow on Tntneonprime, Followthedot and more who does toy reviews. Don’t forget those Funk Pop because they’re popular as well. I got some Funkos for my birthday and Christmas as well. Never was a fan of buying Funko Pop myself but there is a game based on them.
There is a website where you can Funko yourself and people will buy it. Next up is Lego, I remember playing them as a kid. The franchise has grown since 1949 and spawned theatrical movie featuring voice of Chris Pratt. Video games, tv shows and many more that deal with Lego franchise. Fortnite has Lego game mode as well and even other IPs like One Piece, DC Comics and many more. Lego is a family friendly product and is meant for everyone not just young demographic. I am not a fan of Legos but respect others who enjoy them. It doesn’t matter if you are too old for toys but it’s something that you are passionate about. In this economy, toys are getting expensive by the years just like Barbie Dolls which Trump mention. I don’t know if I ever collect toys again, but I own some as a kid.
Is Collecting a Good Hobby?
Colleting is a great hobby in my opinion, people complain about being too old for video games and Power Rangers. Some people can’t relate to you and cast away from society. If you’re a blerd and nerd that love collecting toys, cards and other merchandise. Embrace it and for those who don’t like you for collecting, they need to Mortal Kombat uppercutted into the pit. It’s your life and don’t let other dictate who you enjoy. Some people who don’t want to see you happy. Whether you are cosplaying, buying posters and merchandise from your favorite franchises. That’s your money and be proud of the hobbies that you created for yourself. I don’t let anybody tell me not to watch anime, play video games and sometimes collect. They need to force me because I am like a heavy fortified wall that never be broken.
Normies have their hobbies just like us nerds. I forgot to mention that I have been collecting Oceanbomb Yuzu flavor Sparkling Water with big three animes at Streets Market in Washington DC. Let’s just say, I do have a hobby of collecting things after all. If you want to buy some toys, trading cards and others. You can go on Amazon, Walmart, Target and other retailers out there. Collecting can be amazing hobby, and I have seen people collect retro video games as well. You might open a business based on toys, video games and other merchandise based on your collection one day. All I have to say is this, gotta collect them all like Pokémon “Gotta Catch Them All”. If you have enough money to spare and really want that item, go for it. Personally, I am on a budget right now and have to prepare for the worst sometimes.

Don’t let inflation bring you down because you have one life to live. You can make the most out of life by collecting things like mementos. Make sure to treasure them and probably get brand deals if you’re a successful content creator with huge following. I forgot to mention that I don’t collect a lot of comics myself. There are some I got from Blerdcon, AwesomeCon and many more out there. Well, I am a blerd at heart and in my past, I collect movies as well.
