Crazy Taxi World Tour review

Crazy Taxi World Tour Closed Beta First Impressions

Crazy Taxi World Tour Closed Beta

Crazy Taxi World Tour online multiplayer closed beta is very small but fun. Basely, its all about online multiplayer with some game modes such as ranked and custom matches. Rank game mode has “Cabbies N Cops” and “PickUp Race”,which is only one in the closed beta but more will come in the full version. Pick Up Race is about getting customers and getting first place. This mode is a huge twist from its predecessors and bring something new to the series.

Its basely OG gameplay but racing to see who gets 1st place, while picking up customers. Another new edition to Crazy Taxi World Tour is Cabbies N Cops, which is like cop and robbers. The game mode is basely picking up customers in a certain quota, while cops trying to prevent you from doing so. Cabbies N Cops reminds me of Mario Kart 8 online game mode called “Renegade Roundup”. You can choose between cop or cabbie depending on your choice. If you’re a cop, there is a option to ram cabbies and put them in the slammer. Cabbies can release other players from the slammer by using boost.

While cabbies, you have to avoid the cops and meet your customer’s quota. Note: if you want to play with human players, make sure to rank up to E. Speaking of ranking, if you complete a match but your rank will be F in the beginning. Multiplayer is very similar to Sonic Crossworld Racing went you have to play with AI (CPUs) in the beginning. During gameplay, controls are very similar to 1999 very but updated like nitro boosting. Players has to collect nitro bottles to get a boost of speed, which turns the tide in picking up customers and getting them to their destination.

Thoughts and Issues

Personally, I had some minor issues like cops and cabbies mode 4 vs 2 which I deem unfair in my opinion. I would add 3 cops instead of 2. That’s one issue I had with the beta. There is no tutorial mode for newcomers because I don’t know how to boost during start of the race. I like the drift button which allows for sharp turns. My thoughts on Crazy Taxi World Tour online multiplayer closed beta network test it’s very nostalgia. If you play 1999 video game, you will feel right at home. While in online, you can select your favorite drivers like BD Joe, Axel, Gus and Gena (four original main characters of the series).

They might have more characters in the near future and even third party ones. There is car customization with parts you can unlock during gameplay. They might have missions in the full version along with battle passes. Also, in gameplay, there is emotes that players can use. Crazy Taxi World Tour is a set in the right direction from bringing back the classic 90s arcade feeling. The Offsping “All I Want” and other license soundtrack makes appearance in this game. Developers did stated that closed beta didn’t have “Streamer Mode” for avoid copyright strike or claims.

Streamer mode will be in the full version of the game. For now, you have to mute the music in option mode. You can also config your controls and other in opinion menu. Also, linking you SEGA account in the main menu as well. Personally, I never grew up with Crazy Taxi back in Sega Dreamcast days. While I was in High School, while riding the Metro, there was a group of College students protest and setting up tents. I saw one student playing it on the Sega Dreamcast outside.

Closing

Fast forward to my adult years, I have played Sega Dreamcast Collection for Steam. I still remember passengers would berate you for your reckless driving. Along with getting to the destination fast as you can and game tell you how well your driving skills. Crazy Taxi World Tour has crossplay for PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch. The game will have story mode with five cities from Germany, USA and more. Note: gamer found out that game uses AI-generated backgrounds which creator Kenji Kanno was used for artist references.

Kanno did states that it will be open world massively multiplayer since Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller. I am getting ahead myself, Crazy Taxi World Tour closed beta test was adrenaline fun with crashing into other vehicle and environments. Sega is bring back its classic IPs and giving it a modern twist. Developers might add elements to other past Crazy Taxi titles in this game. Sega might do another Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio and other dormant IPs for modern audience. I didn’t have not much complains about the beta but feel just right. Updated graphic bring out the vibrant city life and very flashy gameplay as well.

Its great to see Crazy Taxi back after years Tycoon in 2017. Its time for some Crazy Taxi, what are your thoughts on online multiplayer closed beta. Crazy Taxi is set to release in 2027 on Stream, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and Xbox. Let me know in the comment below and thank you for reading this blogpost.
