Stream – Live Streaming Horror Game Movie Review
What is Stream (2024)?
Stream (2024) is a slasher horror movie directed by Michael Leavy. The plot is about a family called Keenans, who goes to a small hotel called “Pines” for a vacation. Little to know that owner Mr. Lockwood (Jeffrey Combs) hosts a live stream, which masked killers unalive customers based on their bounties. Main protagonists are Roy Keenan (Charles Edwin Powell), Kevin Keenan (Wesley Holloway), Taylor Keenan (Sydeney Malakeh) and Elaine Keenan (Danielle Harris). Roy has problems with children like Taylor getting trouble with the law.
Also, spending time with his kids because of technology like Kevin likes live streaming. Elaine (Roy’s wife) purposes to go to small hotel. Roy agrees to take the kids to Pines Hotel and meet the owner, Mr. Lockwood (main antagonist of the film). As Keenan family goes to their rooms, Taylor meets couple of guys from Paris at a bar. Mr. Lockwood locks all the door and starts his dark live stream game. Players unalive guest one by one included Elaine,

Roy meets Bernard Davidson (Tim Reid), a retired police officer, who later betrays him. Later on, Mr. Lockwood announces what the game is and players are. While dark live stream games are going on, Kevin tries to hack Mr. Lockwood’s computer but was foiled. Roy disguise as one of the players that was unalive to save Kevin but later on axed by Taylor. Meanwhile, all of the players were eliminated in the course of the live stream. Taylor and Kevin survive the game. While another version, Mr. Lockwood (Tony Todd) announced another game is coming (which is the sequel) and movie ends there.
Thoughts on Stream (2024)
Stream (2024) was kind of misleading in some way. I felt that where was no aspect of live streaming in the film, other than Kevin doing it at the beginning of the film. Livescreamers did a pretty good job in including it. While middle of the film, now they wanted to announce the plot of the movie. I understand they want to build up tension but I felt they were abit late. Bernard’s betray felt out of place and didn’t serve any purpose at all. In the end, Lockwood got to Bernard, he was trying to get out of the game but failed. I thought Roy was going to survive but Taylor and Kevin did. Elaine was encouraging Talyor and didn’t have much to do in the film.
I love how the players was animated and have different colors along with masks. Each of them, have perks and personalities in the film. There was one actor, Player 2 (David Howard Thornton), who was Art the Clown in Terrifier. Speaking of that production of Terrifier (Fuzz on the Lends Productions) was involved in the movie.

I like to say that Tim Curry was in this movie, who passed away on August 25, 2026. Curry also finished his work on the sequel before his pass as well. He was uncredited and was played as Mr. Lockwood’s voice. Stream (2024) has some gory and violence not suitable for younger audiences. Note: this is not a high budget film more like an indie one. Speaking of budget, this was apart from Indiegogo campaign that raises $180,000 and using #JoinTheStream. I felt that movie was missing some parts and some of the acting fails flat. Stream (2024) is not a groundbreaking movie but a mattie for smaller films.
Closing
The movie is 1 hour and 23 minutes long to explain what is going on. I didn’t expect movie to scare me because it’s horror film. Violence is eye-popping and sometimes unrealistic for modern audiences. It’s not up to the level of Five Nights at Freddy’s, therefore Stream suffers some clichés. I also didn’t understand fully what the game was about. Does the masked slasher get a reward and what is the goal is? Does Mr. Lockwood select different people to participate in this game? What is the name of the game anyway? Those questions were unanswered throughout the film.
Stream (2024) was not a bad film and had to give up 3/5 rating. I felt that some puzzles didn’t fit and first-time watcher will find unexpected surprises. Personally, I was looking for more movies about live streaming and hopefully more will peak my interest. Even, there was some adult content in this movie but I didn’t take it seriously at all. Let’s see sequel will explain more than prequel.
