What are Thunderbolts (2025) Movie?
Thunderbolts (2025) movie is based on Marvel Comics with the same name and follows a group of anti-heroes that must work together on a dangerous mission. Director Valentina Allegra De Fontaine assigns Yelena Belova (sister of Black Widow) to destroy Sentry project and any other evidence of O.X.E. While Valentina face impeachment, Yelena meets other anti-heroes Ghost, US Agent and Taskmaster. During the fight, Yelena releases a container with an amnesiac man named Bob. While Taskmaster dies, US Agent, Ghost, Yelana and Bob finds a way to get out of Bunker. Due to find out Valentina has betrayed them and together they escape the bunker, while Bob distracts Valentina’s soldiers. In the second act, Valentina picks up Sentry and teaches him how to control his powers.
Later on, Winter Solider and Red Guardian join to confront Valentina on her betrayal at the new Avengers Tower. During confrontation, Valentina introduces Thunderbolts to Sentry and orders him to defeat them. Thunderbolts was no match from Sentry and force to regroup to find a way to defeat him. Sentry confronts Valentina with not hurting them and had a mental-episode and Void was created. Void started making people disappear along with Yelena. After seeing her vision of her past over and over again, she had enough and see Bob inside a room. Yelena confronts Bob and other Thunderbolts arrive in time. Bob stated that there is another room that can lead the way out.
Sentry’s Powers and Suit
Thunderbolts found Void inside a lab and help Bob overcome his evil half. Everything goes back to normal, and Thunderbolts confront Valentina but surprise them by proclaiming they’re the New Avengers. In post credits scene, Bob stated that he can’t be Sentry because Void is gone. Next thing, Yelena sees Fantastic Four ship headed towards earth in the movie ends. The question is about did Thunderbolts win against Sentry, I would say no not physically but mentally. There is no way that Thunderbolts couldn’t even touch Sentry due to his powers of super strength, telepathy and invulnerability. Sentry is strong enough to beat Galactus. Thunderbolts (2025) was a little sample of his powers but in the comics, Sentry has an immortality, life creation and reincarnation.
Hopefully, Avengers: Doomsday would show off more of his powers. I love how Marvel Cinematic Universe is very accurate with Sentry’s suit along with his blond hairstyle. They got him his signature yellow color with a modern touch. I am happy to see Sentry finally make an appearance in MCU. Some people think Sentry is Marvel’s version of Superman for some reason. I can see both have heat vision, x-ray, flight and superhuman strength. In my personal opinion Sentry would take down Superman in a heartbeat because how strong he is. Anyways, I am not here to talk about Sentry vs Superman but Thunderbolts movie instead. This is something that NewRockstars would do a video on anyway. Thunderbolts take a new approach to standard MCU troupe.
Thunderbolts Can’t Win
Even if an army of anti-heroes went against Sentry, there is no way any of them with make it out alive. Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier along with any comic book fan would know that. Screenplayers Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo say that Thunderbolts can take him down mentally but in hand-to-hand combat. Instead of fist but words that can easily manipulate Sentry into fighting or not. I love the portrayal of Sentry (Bob) by Lewis Pullman who is the son of Bill Pullman. Lewis brings light and darkness to the character, easily fragile person that loses his memory. In the movie, he does have an abusive family past but it should be explored more in the movie. Sentry can make you see your past by physical contact.
He affected John Walker and Yelena but not Red Guardian and Ghost along with Bucky. I was guessing there was not enough film time for it. Probably, in past movies, we already saw their past but focused on USA Agent and Yelena. Speaking of cast members, Florence Pugh did amazing job in the film along with Juila Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina. Other actors were good as well and I have enjoyed the humor as well. One day, I am hoping to see a Suicide Squad and ThunderBolts crossover at some point but never going to happen. Still hoping to see Sentry in Marvel Rivals and make him a Vanguard. We don’t need more duelists in that game, trust me. No one can win against Sentry in any Marvel Universe, or I might be right.
Closing
I highly enjoy watching Thunderbolts (2025) film because MCU slightly getting better after Deadpool and Wolverine. Happy for Sentry to get on the big screen and yet I don’t see him being any Marvel games or animated shows. Again, The Thunderbolts who is sponsored by Shane didn’t win again Sentry but found a backdoor how too. Sentry is the most powerful character in Marvel Comics and up there with Phoenix (Jean Grey).
