What is Wonder Man TV Show?
Wonder Man 2026 tv show is based on Marvel comic book character with the same name created by Jack Kirby, Don Heck and Stan Lee. The show is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, Wonder Man (2026) takes place in Hollywood, California where upcoming actor Simon Williams is trying to land the role of remake of Wonder Man movie. Simon seeks helps from fellow actor Trevor Slattery (who is the Mandarin in Iron Man movie).
Both Trevor and Simon wants to be apart of Wonder Man remake but there were tension between the two. Trevor was arrested by police and given an ultimatum, go to prison or join Damage Control to expose Simon. Trevor chooses to join Damage Control due to Simon becoming unstable meta-human with destructive powers .
Simon Williams first role was American History Stories but his character was cut because revising that he suggesting. His girlfriend broke up with his and had family issues due to his power. Simon watches older Wonder Man with his dad before passing away. After watching the movie as a kid, Simon was inspired to become an actor. In the show, Simon Williams struggles to become an actor like going to auctions and talking with his talent agency.
Superheroes Can’t Be Actors
Trevor and Simon do auction in Von Kovak’s Wonder Man and got the role. Both protagonists have issues on their own like Trevor getting into some shady business with some thugs. Simon hiding his superpowers from his family and public. Also, the show has real directors and actors like Josh Gad along with Joel Pantoliano. There is one superhero named Doorman, who worked in night club called Wilcox Club.
After an incident with Doorman due to having superpowers, meta-humans was barred from acting. Hencefore, Simon Williams had to hide his power to the public. In the comic, Simon Williams powers is based on ionic energy given by Baron Zemo. In this tv show, we don’t get to see how Simon got his powers. His eyes glow red and can self-regenerate went he was a child because kitchen fire. Some comic book critic said that he has Sentry-level strength and powerful hero in Marvel. One day, I want to see him in Marvel Rivals as a Vanguard.
Anyways, Simon doesn’t know about Doorman incident yet but if he is exposed as superhero. His career would be over as well ostracized by the public or barred from acting. Simon Williams does learn to fly went breaking Trevor out of prison. Now, he will be a criminal now and Kovak will fire him.
Thoughts on Wonder Man (2026)
My prediction in season two, Simon Williams will lose control of his powers and Damage Control will arrested him. He will be locked in prison for meta-humans, which Damage Control stated it was half empty in early episodes. Trevor and Simon did had a falling out in episode 7 but realize that they need each other. Wonder Man didn’t have a main antagonist or villain in this show. But his brother Eric Williams might become the Grim Reaper in the next season.
Only time will tell went that happens but they can use any villains in Avengers rogue gallery. The question is Wonder Man good or bad show to watch, I would say it tackles struggling actor who has issues with talent agency. Simon create auction tapes to land the role as Wonder Man, The creators didn’t want to included his original backstory but adaptation West Coast Avengers #1. When Simon quit West Coast Avengers to pursue acting and felt being apart of the team will slow him down. Myself, I am not actor but could see how struggles of getting roles. There is one tik toker who went viral for her portrayal of Evil Queen at Disney World named Sabrina Von Bogenberg.
Sabrina Von Bogenberg left or fired Disney after 8 years but now she is pursuing acting as well. Anyways, Wonder Man 2026 was not supernatural superhero show but stay grounded. There was a lot of references to other movies like “Baby’s Day Out” and many more. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley had good comedic chemistry. I was thinking it was a buddy cop just like Zooptopia’s Nick Wilde and Judy Hopp (see what I did there),
Closing
MCU always have seen moments about betrayal and how to fit in society as meta-human. Simon’s character is very unhinged and I like how the show slows down and don’t throw subplots at you. Yahya portrayal was kind of off little bit because he was trying to be comedic but falls flat. Ben Kingsley has a lot of comedic charm and charisma to his performance.
Overall, the show was average for me and steps away from hero vs villain format. Simon character have yet to grow yet and we need more season to establish him more. I understand it has to be story-driven and fans were looking for superpower fights, which you don’t see in this show. Its not a bad show whatsoever, sometimes changes race of original character can be tiring at time. But, its a universe, whether your favorite comic book character undergo changes like race and gender. I would like to see more of Wonder Man in the near future.
