Who is Agott Arklaum?
Agott Arklaum is a supporting character of Shirahama Kamome’s manga Witch Hat Atelier. She is apart of Qifrey’s Atelier group and wants to become a witch to prove herself. In the anime, Agott becomes a foil to Coco due to her own self-esteem. Her characteristics and personality come off as brash. While Coco was recruited by Qifrey after accidentally casting a forbidden magic on her own mother. Agott put Coco on a trail and she succeed in learning how to fly.
During episode 4, Agott berates Coco after interrupting her from casting a spell to defeat the dragon, saying that everything is her fault. Toward the end of the episode, Agott works together with Tetia and Richeh along with Coco to put the dragon to sleep with a cloud spell.
In episodes 6-7, Agott was panicking about saving a Custas life. She cast a spell of a Phoenix to distract outsides because it’s a rule that they can’t see magic, while Coco finds a way to help Custas. In that moment, Agott having flashbacks about her mother scolding her because she was making mockery out of Arklaum name. Coco and Agott saves Custas but get captured by Knight’s Moralist. Episode 11-12, Agott starts her trial at Serpentback Cave with Richeh and Euini along with Alaira.

She uses ice magic to navigate through Serpentback but gets attacked by one of the Brimmed Cap members. Now, Euini is turned into a wolf-like creature by Sasaran, Agott and Richeh must stop him. Some People think Agott is annoying and insuffable character in the series. She is one of those anime arc types that doesn’t accept the main character until mid-series. Agott has pride because she wants to become a witch but there are obstacles in the way. She also loves to put the burden on others like Coco.
Agott train day and night to become greater but having trouble believing in herself. In the anime, there are issues about what you can’t or will do that characters go through. Euini has self-esteem issues went facing abuse Kurkrow and now overcame it due to the help of Richeh and Agott.
Agott has helped people with her words and actions that push them to become better version of themselves. If it wasn’t for Agott, Coco wouldn’t have the confidence to learn magic by getting a apple-shaped like flower. Kamome Shirahama knows what character can push Coco into learning magic instead of dwelling on the past. Other than that, there is not much about Agott after season 1 has ended. Manga is still ongoing and we might get more of Agott including her love interest and family. But Agott is softened up to Coco and slowly accepting her.
Thoughts about Witch Hat
Shoutout to her voice actress Madeleine Morris, giving her all to give Agott more personality and becoming an anchor to Qifrey’s Ateiler. Within those black hair and purple eyes, Agott got along ways to go before becoming a witch. What I think about series overall? Witch Hat Atelier is very similar to Little Witch Academia and Harry Potter. Kamamone has also inspired by The Lord of the Rings as well, which is a great touch.
Bug Films has some clean and dazzling animation making it felt like a Hayao Miyazaki film like Bushbuddy creature. In my opinion, this is one of the best animes I have watched in 2026. Based on the reviews, I heard there is some LGBTQ elements in the story but have yet to read manga. Witch Hat Atelier won a lot of awards like best new manga for kids, top 10 graphic novels and Daruma for Finest Crafrsmanship. I want to see more of this series and hope it becomes very successful. A lot of people on social media like Tik Tok, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube discussing this anime.
I had to wait until all the 12 episodes were released for first time viewing. Have to say, I have enjoyed it start to finish and get to explore characters like Agott. Agott is also compared to Sasuke from Naruto due both being loners. Later on, accept them as rivals, I don’t know if Coco and Agott will become lovers or enemies. Agott will have to overcome her self-doubt and keep pushing forward. People want to see you fail and talk down to demoralize someone. Looking at Heisuke from Sakamoto Days, people told him, he is not cut out to be assassin but proves them wrong at the end.

My advice doesn’t listen to those people who call you worthless. Stand up tall look them in the face and say, “I am the star in the sky, am the world’s greatest”. Agott can be great in her own way along with Coco, Richeh and Tetia. She has along ways to go instead of rushing things.
