Is Buddy (2026) Hit or Flop?

Buddy (2026) is a parody of Pee-Wee Playhouse, Barney and other 90s child shows. In my opinion, it is a hit for me. My problem is about Grace, she didn’t serve no purpose in the film. We get to learn about Freddy and Grace relationship toward the end. I would give this a 7/10 because I felt that Grace subplot is not needed at all. Freddy’s was the real protagonist and the movie didn’t need Grace. Buddy in the other hand was creepy and the movie is R rated. Note: there is some cruel adult jokes that’s not suitable for younger audience. I did laugh at some jokes in the film.

Yes Buddy is low budget at best but its way better than Five Nights At Freddy’s movie for sure. I know there is a lot of Mascot horror movies out there and this is closes to r-rated Barney horror movie. There is a movie starting Daniel Kaluuya but we didn’t know about that what happening with development of that movie. Some people think this movie has flop but Casper Kelly bring in nostalgia of PBS era of children shows. Also, using real life footage that tells the important of dancing, cleaning and more. I really felt like a kid again watching shows like Blue’s Clues and educational shows .

While watching the film, there was some missing parts like brainwashing and other sentient being that in the workshop. In my opinion, the movie felt rushed and Buddy felt dragged at for some reason. How can I forgot about the opening of Buddy which is funny. Buddy (2026) is 96 minutes along but felt like a short film. I know there will be more movies like Buddy in the near future. While Buddy is canceled permanently but who will take Buddy’s place. If they do a sequel, Freddy will be new protagonist and a new show will air. Also, there is I Love You, You Hate Me song that kids sing to cause Buddy to transform.

Closing

Buddy (2026) is a matinee for adult not for child. You can watch it on Friday or Sunday and have a good laugh. Buddy the Unicorn can keep you entertainment and gory is low-budget. If you ever watch a children’s Mascot show with a darker twist and something has gone wrong. Main cast did a good job and soundtrack is reminiscing of 90s old children show. Anyways, feel free to check it out and buy DVD/Blu-ray. The movie is very cheesy at best but keeps you wondering what Buddy will do next. Also, the film made $27 million at the box office.
