Agent 64 Spies Never Die Demo – First Impressions
What is Agent 64 Spies Never Die
Agent 64 Spies Never Die is a retro first person shooter developed by Replicant D6. The plot is about an agent named John Walter, who is on a mission to stop his Dominic Pulp. The game is a reminisce of Nintendo 64 shooter era like 007 Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and many more. There are game modes like solo campaign (co-op is available) offline or online. Speaking of that, there is multiplayer offline or online split-screen just like N64 era. Players can play through level with 3 difficulty (Agent, Special Agent and 64 Agent).

During 14 missions, you can complete objectives to progress through the level. John has weapons and gadgets like hacking door along with acquiring keycards. For those, who want cheat codes, Paradox mode has big head, no reload and more. While in multiplayer, there is up to 8 players with 10 presets (Deathmatch, Briefcase, Zone and Challenges). Deathmatch is getting more the most kills wins. Briefcase is about holding it for long periods of time like Splitgate’s Split Ball mode. Zone is similar to Overwatch and Battlefield 1 went capturing zones.

Challenge is special matches that players have to get precise score at set time. When playing multiplayer and single player, you will be shooting environments like walls along others. There is maps like museums, penthouse, tower and more that players can explore. The game is very fast on 30 to 60fps with bullet time and speedrunning through the game. Agent 64 has the same graphic style with Oynx but with modern twisted. Soundtrack is very spy oriented and making you feel like in a movie.

There is dialogue between mission but no voice acting requirement. I almost forgot about body armor to protect yourself in gun fights. In the game, I didn’t see any health packs laying around these levels. When its game over, you have to start over at check point. Agent 64 offers 70+ modifers and gun blazing action using aim assist. Note: There is no tutorial what so ever, if you’re veteran playing first person shooter. Option will show you the controls and config settings to your liking.
There is graphics for lower specs and options for Keybord or controller (Xbox and PlayStation). As I was playing this game, I felt a nostalgia rush during my time on N64 days. My cousin had Goldeneye 007 and let me have it, later on I played Perfect Dark on emulator. Henceforth, there is no online but offline with friends for multiplayer. Later on, Turok 3 Shadow of Oblivion introduce bots, which solve my problem of no having anybody to play with.
Review
Agent 64 Spies Never Die was a thrill and brought me back in 90s ear of fps games. Indie developers know how retro games inspired them to create these Ips. During demo, I like using machine guns and hiding behind walls to avoid getting shot at. Again, I had one issues is that there was no health packs. Other than that, I had some much fun with this game and I will be wishlisting it. The game has been featured on different publications like Dreamhack, EEK3 Indie Game Showcase, 3D Realms Virtual Conference and more.
If you want to support Replicant D6, join their Discord server along with following them on Twitter (X). Watch trailer on YouTube as well, there might be more characters that will happen John Walter. You can probably finish story mode in 2 or 4 hours, depending on your playstyle. What can I say about this game, fighting against Dominic’s forces and also getting help from NPCs never felt great. If you’re a pc players make sure to check your specs but should run on all computers with 64-bit operating system.

You want to relive first person shooter with retro twist? Agent 64 Spies Never Die is something that you will enjoy. Personally, I never seen spy films other than Mr. & Mrs Smith and Mission Impossible. After this post, I might watch Goldeneye and other 007 movies to get that fill. There is a spy anime called “Spy X Family”, that is very popular right now. Feel free to check out it but that being said, the game might have slapper only too as well.

Agent 64 Spies Never Die is a must-buy for retro gamers out there. I want to see this game be successful and appear in Mystery Game Tournament at Combo Breaker or Frosty Faustlings. The game will be released in August 11, 2026 but demo is available to play on Steam. I don’t know if it will come to PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Switch but may in the near future. What your thoughts on Agent 64 Spies Never Die and have you played it? Let me know in the comment and thank you for reading this blogpost. Tune into the next one from yours turly.
