In this post, I will be listing along with ranking Mortal Kombat Legends movies based on how I like them. I haven’t watch 2026 Mortal Kombat movie featuring Karl Urban as Johnny Cage. Some of the storyline is taken from original Mortal Kombat and others are new. What any further, I will be talking about four animated films and give a brief summary of each. Toward the end of the post, I will give my overall opinion about them. First on the list is about Johnny Cage which I enjoy.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match (B)

Yes, Johnny Cage is the main protagonist of this film and he has to save actress named Jennifer Grey (who is based off real life person) from cult trying to resurrect false Elder God named Shinnok. Johnny gets help from Chuck Golden (Mokap) and Ashrah. I would say this is that Cage Match is a fun film and better portrayal in Karl Urban. It features voice actors like Gilbert Gottfried, Joel McHale, Kelly Hu and many more. Its has 80s vibe including animation and soundtrack, which is a breath of fresh air. Mortal Kombat Legends Cage Match is available now on Amazon.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge (A)

Scorpion’s Revenge has two plot that revolves around original MK 1 (1992), went Liu Kang and champions of EarthRealm partake in tournament hosted by Shang Tsung. While other deals with Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi) backstory and how he become hellspawn by Quan Chi. This was the start of the film series and considered to the best. We get a deep dive into shoes of Scorpion along with retelling first Mortal Kombat game. That’s why I gave this a solid A because how both plot intertwined together without confusing newcomers and veterans of the franchise. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge is available on DVD and Digital.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms (D)

Battle of the Realm is based off Moral Kombat 2 and 3 mix with MK X. When Shang Tsung is defeated and Shao Khan sets up a new tournament to take EarthRealm. I remember watching this and it feels flat along with feeling inferior to Scorpion’s Revenge. I felt the storyline was clustered and kind of confusing at the same time. You know that Liu Kang defeats Shao Kahn and Raiden recruiting Earthrealmers to fight his battles. This was my least favorite of the series and feel free to buy DVD.

Mortal Kombat Legends : Snow Blind (C)

Snow Blind revolves around Kenshi Takashi and Kuai Liang (Sub-Zero), who takes on Black Dragon group led by Kano. We learn more about how Kenshi become blind and Kuai helped him trained to overcome his senses. Also, Kuai Liang has his own problem that he create a ice storm that killed his comrades. Feeling guilty about this, he stopped fighting back. Snow Blind is not bad film and uses elements from Mortal Kombat 11 with Kano uses Kronika’s Hourglass. Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind is available on DVD.

Opinions

MK Legends films retain gory and gruesome bone cracking that fans of the series known from original games. You see your favorite character duke it out along with cameos and easter eggs from the series. I forgot about opening that Shaggy and Scorpion grab Daffy Duck which was an internet meme. Also, Cage Match is a prequel film, leading up to first Mortal Kombat storyline. I really enjoyed Cage match is my favorite out of all the film series. Johnny loves to break the fourth wall and gets the girl in the end.

While Scorpion’s Revenge and Snow Blind deals with regret along with loss of someone. Battle of the Realms is saving the world from Overlord that wants to take over the universe. Legends brings these characters to new light than live action movies. The flesh out animation draws out fight scenes making it more brutal. Your favorite characters like Kitana, Sonya Blade, Jax and the rest of the cast plays a role in the series. Each film is 80s minutes length, which needed to get to know each character and story.

Closing

Even Ed Boom stated that these film receive R Rated making the first Mortal Kombat film to have unlike live action which is rated PG-13. Anyways, there is no more Legends because Cage Match was the last one in the series. Hopefully, there might be another in the near future. These films is highly recommended for MK fans to enjoy. While Mortal Kombat (2023) was poorly received because mircotransactions but hopefully it will pick itself up. I will get Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection in the near future to play all the titles again.
