Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to release in May 26, 2026 and Rockstar Games biggest anticipated game of all time. People speculate that it will cost around $80-100 dollars because production. Nintendo raise their game prices to $80 for digital and $90s physical along with Switch 2. Right now, Microsoft is raising their prices of AAA titles and consoles as well. I don’t know if it’s because Donald Trump’s Tariffs policy or just corporate greed. Anyways, I did a post about how video games are getting more expensive in 2025 and future.
Back to GTA VI, Rockstar Games released a trailer on May 6,2025 of game’s story and main characters Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval. Jason and Lucia journey in Miami to protect each other from Drug Dealers along with many obstacles in their way.
This is basically Bonnie and Clyde story because trailer 2 didn’t show too much of the story. We get to see people dancing in the club, famous memes like Florida Joker and activities like Boxing. Just like its predecessors, GTA VI got to have some copyright music from famous music artists. Don’t forget the weapons and vehicles that main protagonists drive throughout the game. Last game was Grand Theft Auto V with three protagonists: Trevor Philips, Michael Townley and Franklin Cliton. GTA V was released in 2013 and still being played to this day.
Past Grand Theft Auto Games
Right now, GTA V Online multiplayer has been booming with players. It has heist, creating a crew, owning restate and other game modes. I don’t know if GTA VI will have multiplayer in the future. Only time will tell because delays and planned DLC for that.
Before I gave my final thoughts on VI, let’s take a look back the past games that I played. The first Grand Theft Auto was III, I didn’t own 2 and 1. GTA III was very popular in PS2 era and released in October 23, 2001. The player takes control of Claude who was betrayed by his girlfriend Catalina during bank heist. Claude is helped by 8-Ball and does work for Mafia in order to get his revenge on Catalina.
The game takes place in Liberty City (later had a game based on it called Stories released on October 25, 2005). I remember the cheat code and it was more fun along with car theft. Of course, I didn’t beat the game but transition to Vice City. I remember renting Grand Theft Auto: Vice City at BlockBuster, It was very similar to Miami Vice (I never seen that show). You make control of Tommy Vercetti (voiced by Ray Liotta RIP).

Tommy goes on a drug war with his boss Sonny Forelli and meets others like Lance Vance. Vice City was very colorful and has the same traits as III. There is a side game Vice City Stories that was released on October 31, 2006. Afterwards, GTA Sand Andreas which is the most popular entry of the series. Especially, Carl Jordan statement in the beginning of the game “oh ish where we go again” which turns to an internet meme.
Anyways, Sand Andreas has always been my favorite GTA entry of all time. The plot is about Carl Johnson returns to Los Santos after his mother death. CJ meets up with his Grove Street buddies to take down rival gangs and other odd jobs. San Andreas has some famous voice acots like Samuel L Jackson (Frank Tenpenny), James Woods (Mike Toreno) and Clifton Collins Jr (Cesar Vialpando).
San Andreas is very similar to Compton, New Jersey and character Ryder looks similar N.W.A Eazy-E. I love the hip hop culture and inspiration from films like Boyz in the Hood. Afterwards, Grand Theft Auto IV with Niko Bellic has the new protagonist. This was my less favorite title of the franchise. GTA IV was released on April 29, 2008 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The plot is Niko Bellic is an ex-solider to escape his criminal past to pursue American Dream and search for a man who betray him. Niko meets his cousin Roman who is involved in gambling and loan sharks. He meets up with Russian mobsters and work with drug lords. GTA IV was the third game that takes place in Liberty City and added new content from its past games.
Closing
You can take selfies, have online multiplayer (which Later incorporated in GTA V) and subway system for fast travel (another feature that GTA V has). Also, the game has a mortality choice that affects the storyline. It’s been a while since I have beaten it and has a cheat code system already into the game. I haven’t played Chinatown Wars and Advance sorry about that. Last, Grand Theft Auto is 5 and that’s basically it for the rundown. The franchise has been controversial like getting banned and players reacting crimes from the game. It has been referenced in movies and lawsuits along with clones of the franchise. GTA has been on everyone’s hearts and there are mods as well.
Grand Theft Auto has been paying the way for open-world games like Cyberpunk 2077, Far Cry and Marvel’s Spider Man. Rockstar Games has been crushing it with their hit games like Red Dead, Bully and Max Payne. I am hoping for more activities and many more fun things to do in Miami. How can I have forgotten about GTA guy from The Game Awards that wants the game. He will have to wait until May 2026 for it.
I know there is some twerking in the Strip Club and there was motion capture of that on the internet. Can’t wait for the release of the game but the price throws me off. There is no info on PC release, but it will be on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. What are your thoughts on GTA 6 and let me know in the comments.
