The Quintessential Quintruplets – Who Marries Futaro in the Series?

What is The Quintessential Quintruplets?

The Quintessential Quintruplets is based on romantic harem manga developed by Negi Haruba. Quintessential Quintruplets plot is about high school student named Futaro Usegi is hired by Mauro Nakano who has a tutor for his five daughters due to poor performance. Futaro world has been turned upside down in Nakano sister come to his life. Nanako sisters consist of Ituski, who wants to become a teacher just like her deceased mother. Ichika, who is aspiring actress. Nino, who has an aggressive and feisty personality toward Futaro.

Miku is quiet and reserved alsowears pair of headsets around her neck. Yotsuba who is extroverted and cheerful. Each Nanako sister has poor studying skills throughout the series. Futaro gives them the motivation to become better version of themselves. He helps Nanako sisters with confidence, academic skills and spending time with each Nanoko throughout the series. Quintessential Quintruplets focus on how Futaro changes their lives and each of them falls in love with him. In anime, we get to see some contacts about characters and their backstory.

Nanako experiences having the same eyes and hair style because people can’t tell them apart. For example, in the movie, Yotsuba wears a green ribbon and has orange hair. While Nino hears butterfly hair piece and Itsuki has on star in her hair. During their childhood, each sister looks the same but in high school, they decide to change their appearance. Speaking of childhood, Futaro had blond hair and met one of the Nanako sisters at shrine.

Futaro’s Choice

In the movie, Futaro chose Yotsuba become he remembers the time in his childhood. Futaro felt closer to Yotsuba than other Nanako sisters. Miku, Nino, Ichika and Itsuki felt disappointed but continue to pursue Futaro by any means. Yotsuba was confronted by her siblings about Futaro. Eventually, accepts Futaro’s confession after running away from him. Yotsuba feeling towards Futaro was like a swing back n forth. Yotsuba has a bright personality and can make Futaro’s day shine more. Now, Futaro marries Yotsuba and live happily ever after.

During wedding ceremony, Yotsuba thanks her sister for supporting her in this journey. They made Futaro go to a room in school to confess his love to them. Nanoko loves to play the pick a door game but was sadden that Futaro didn’t choose them. Futaro did tell Nanako sister at School Festival arc that he loves them. Nanako sisters get jealous of other girls spending time with Futaro like his childhood friend Takebayashi. Even Futaro helped Itsuki confront her biological father Atabe Maruo for not being there for them.

Also, Miku regains confidence to tell pancake and Takoyaki committee to work together. He helped Nino make pancakes for her dad Mauro. A great support system for Itsuki’s goal of being a teacher. Ichika goes Futaro is someone who can talk to and comfort. Nanoko sister reminisced about how they spent time with Futaro and become a beacon of light. That’s why I love The Quintessential Quintruplets series.

Thoughts on the Choice

Even is it a harem, the story takes a positive turn and builds up characters along the way. Futaro is a role model for Nanoko sisters, and he has dating options as well. I would say that he made a good choice because Yotsuba is Futaro childhood friend. Both Futaro and Yotsuba loss their mothers in the course of the series. I wonder why Yotsuba run away from Futaro which I found awkward. Should Yotsuba be happy instead of running away? Nino and Miku question her about that. I was laughing in playground scene went Futaro fell off the swing.

Guessing Futaro and Yotsuba were having a little contest in the end. Therefore, Futaro did admit that he has no feelings toward Nanoko sisters. In the end, Futaro ends up marrying one of them. The Quintessential Quintruplets has Honeymoon and Summer arc (which comes before the film). There is a visual novel game called “The Quintessential Quintruplets: Summer Memories” which is based on anime specials. The game was developed by Mages and released on PlayStation 4 along with Nintendo Switch. There is another one called “Five Memories Spent with You” and mobile game. Quintessential Quintruplets has two seasons with 12 episodes.

Animation is done by Bibury Animation Studios which I found sensational piece of work with bright colors. Whole anime reminds me of Fruits Basket with heartwarming moments and character development. The series focuses on Nanoko sister troubles and gives them identity on their own. This is one of the anime I really enjoy and especially English voice cast.

Closing

Although series has ended and this show holds a special place in my heart. In my opinion, I would choose Ichika because her personality. I have to say “Ichika is the best girl” you can debate me if you like. The Quintessential Quintruplets is one of the best anime shows I ever watched. Also, Futaro Usegi is a likeable protagonist and has a family as well. No wonder it won Kondansha Manga Awards in 2019. Futaro chooses whoever he likes to spend his life with. Whatever chose he makes hopes not to regret it in the future.
