Is Lolirock Season 3 Still Happening – A Really Good Show?

What is Lolirock

Lolirock is a 2D french animated tv series developed by David Michel and Jean Louis-Vandestoc. The plot is about a young teenage girl named Iris, who has a singing voice that comes strange occurrence and also lose babysitting jobs become of it. One day, Iris goes to audition to become Idoi. Iris sings and cause a light beam to shoot out in auditorium and runs off. The series main antagonist Lord Gramorr, sends his henchmen Mephisto and Praxina to stop Iros. Two judges from Lolirock audition Talia and Auriana are princess from another world.

Talia and Auriana explains to Iris, she is a princess from place called Ephedia along with her real parents. Also, explains why Gramorr wants Oracle stones to take over Ephedia. As series progresses, three protagonists deals with life issues like betrayal, love and fighting off Gramorr forces. There is more character like Iris love interest named Nathaniel, who works at smoothie shop. Iris’s caretaker Aunt Ellen who turns out to be apart of royal guard and real name Lady Ellira. Also, Talia’s older sister Izira, who lead the resistance against Lord Gramorr.

Lev, a thief who sides with Gramorr but switch sides after seeing Iris bravery. Lolirock follows same format as any magical girl anime. Iris and girls fall in love, help people and etc. While Gramorr sends his minion Praxina and Mephisto to foil Lolirock efforts to get all Oracle stones. Although, Gramorr can’t touch the Crown of Ephedia because of its power. Gramorr plans is to lure Iris into getting him the Grown of Ephedia and getting 10 Oracle stones. Praxina and Mephisto send out monsters, while Lolirock defeats them in each episode.

At the end of the episode, Lolirock perform a song and Iris writing in her journal who what takes place during episode. In the series, we learn more about three protagonist like Auriana having a brother and Talia finding about what happen to her sister. Three main characters go to Earth (Sunny Bay) to Epehdia through the series. Other princesses, Carissa and Lyna join the battle against Gramorr. Iris struggles to become a hero or maintain her social life. In season 1, we learn about Ephedia and girls role in the battle against Gramorr.

Season Two is Gramorr gets all the Orcale stones of Ephedia. There are certain characters death like Lev, who tricks Iris thinking that her father is alive. Mephisto after final battle with Gramorr went a crystal explosives on him. Now Praxina claim revenge on Lolirock after Mephisto’s death, together with Banes, she is planning on taking over Sunny Bay along with Ephedia. The series ended on a cliffhanger and there was no season 3 whatsoever. In 2023, Jean Louis-Vandestoc announced that season 3 is in development and slated to be released in 2028.

Jean Louis-Vandestoc was inspired by magical girl anime like Sailor Moon, Pretty Cure, Dragon Ball along with Jem and the Holograms. Speaking of magical girl, there was talks about Miraculous Ladybug crossover, but Thomas Astruc stated that “its very unlikely because different properties”. The theme and writing of the show is about friendship, love, music and more. Head writer Madellaine Paxson, who work on Power Rangers is apart of this project as well.

Season 3

Soundtrack is glam mix with pop music along with outfits that reminds me you IdoImaste, Love Live along with Zombieland Saga. Will Lolirock get a season 3? Absolutely it will because season 2 left off with unresolved ending and Praxina is coming new main antagonist that protagonists must defeat. In my opinion, it might have new animation, characters and 26 episodes in 22 minutes time span. In magical girl show, there is also 52 episodes that includes filter along main storyline. We always got to have to Monster of the Week format that girls have to defeat in order to progress the story.

Praxina and Mephisto always falling their mission and Lord Gramorr scolding them. There is magical girl pet like Amaru, who can transforms into a winged horse. Miraculous Ladybug is not only magical girl show from another country I have watch but Winx Club. Also, transformation sequences can be skipped, if you see them more than one time. Not the special attack sequence and another thing Iris has a super from called “Shanila” which is sort like Super-Saiyan. Lolirock has clean and bright animation with Adobe. Also animation reminds me of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic because movements and facial expression characters make.

Shoutout to voice actors Tabithita St Germain, Kazumi Evans, Ashleigh Ball and Vincent Tong along others did a great job portraying the characters. I really enjoy the theme song “Higher by Yasmin Shan” in English dub. Lolirock can be charming and abit cliché of you’re a veteran of watching magical girl shows. The love chemistry between Nathaniel sometimes comes alittle off at times. But eventually, Iris comes back to Sunny Bay to spend time with him. I forgot to mention that Marathon Media is involved in production along with Zodiak Kids.

Closing

Lolirock is intended for young audience but adults can watch it as well, if you’re a fan of magical anime. There is no violence in this show but very light-hearted at best. Animation is the selling point of the TV show, let’s hope Lolirock season 3 will become even better or worst its been 14 years since season 2 has ended. In 2028, let’s hope Jean gets the band back together for one last season or more. Lolirock is available to watch on Amazon Prime and buy DvDs.
