What’s Better Controller or Keyboard and Mouse – Player’s Choice
Overiew
Every players has a different method of playing like mouse and keyboard along with having a controller in your hand. There is different options to play video games to suit the player’s preferences. Myself I prefer video game controllers because its so much easier to reach for keys and a mouse. Back in 90s, I grew up with SNES along with Xbox, PS2 and many more. I am pretty much used to playing with a pad than on a computer. Although, I have played MS DOS back in 1990s with point n click adventure games along with Rayman. Also, forgot about playing Mortal Kombat 3 on PC back in the day.

I have switch for console to PC for time to time before COVID-19 pandemic. There was Unreal Tournament, Monkey Island and 7th Guest along with other retro games on Steam. But due to my low-pc specs that I couldn’t play certain video games and had to comeback to console. In this post, I will be talking about differences between them. Note: this is my personal option only and not much an expert on this. Let me know in the comment on what is your method of playing video games. Let’s get right to the thick of it.
Controller
Video game controller can be more accessible and comfortable hands-on. Especially, playing fighting games, platformers and role-playing games. In it comes to first person shooter games, turning around or aiming was a pain. Controller movement is like a military tank, while mouse and keyboard is very smoothly for turning. That’s why crossplay is a thing now and some critics debate that “its a huge disadvantage for console and pc players”. Some players are used to playing with gamepad than striking different keys to perform character’s actions.

Yes, you can config to your liking because controllers doesn’t have a lot of buttons because its limited. Which put less stress than keyboard does. I love using a gamepad because its more easy than pressing keys because some functions might trigger caplock or display window. Don’t get me wrong that controller are very expensive than mouse and keyboard. There are controller for PC and for mobile as well. That’s wraps up my explanation of video game controllers in a nutshell.
Keyboard/Mouse
Keyboard and mouse is more complex than gaming controller. This has more button than a controller does and functions. When playing FPS games, aiming is more smooth than controller does. Especially playing games like Overwatch, Call of Duty and Counter Strike that PC players will enjoy because older days. Keyboard/mouse takes time and practice to master than gamepad. I get it and can be intimating because there is so much keys to work it included buttons on mouse. Its depend on the game which some of the controller could be more simpler than most.

While crossplay, a pc gamer has more advantage than console player any day. Keyboard/mouse is very cheap than controller budget wise, I can see people prefer pc gaming than console. Building a gaming PC is very expensive but that’s another post for another day. Keyboard has button for voice and team chat than controller along with typing messages as well. Controller doesn’t have a button for that but typing using your buttons on the controller. Which can be troubling some players but it could getting some used to.
Which is Better?
Here is the kicker, there is no better method on playing video games. Each one has its pros and cons for one another. You play what in your heart, if keyboard/mouse is your forte that good for it. What about controller players? Well, if you want limited button instead of very complex ones, gamepad is for you. Myself, I am consider a controller player first than mouse/keyboard player any day. Due to Sony not producing physical disc in 2028 but gamers is now switching to PC.

The thing is that getting PC is expensive and you can’t play every game because of specs specifically for that game. Console, there is no limitations on what games you can play because its designed for that console. Nintendo Switch other hand that certain games are not compatible because its graphic card and performance. I don’t want to get ahead of myself here. You know what I am trying to say that both PC and console is not perfect what so every. Its depends on the person who truly love video games and having a great experience with them.
Closing
I like playing both of them for time to time. Again, its depend on the game genre on what controls are. What are your thoughts on controller or keyboard and mouse? Let me know in the comments and thank you for reading this blogpost from yours truly. Feel free to buy some controllers and mouse/keyboard on your own.
