Ruin Beast City – DascuMaru
Run Beast City is a cinematic hack and slash indie game developed by DascuMaru. The plot is about an assassin named Adama, who is tasked on hunting down mythical immortals. The game is very similar to Furi and Suda51’s No More Heroes mix with soulslike elements. Main gameplay is about parry, dodging and fighting against your foe. There is an indicator in the bottom of the screen, if it goes down, game over for you. If it raises, enemies goes into its second phase and face gets challenges from here. Ruin Beast City is a very dark-cel shaded action drama with a protagonist facing his face.

DascuMaru
The game can be difficult for beginners at times but veterans of soulslike game will get a taste of this. Did I forgot to mention that you can use a gun and katana combo? Players can perform special actions with them as well. Ruin Beast City demo is available on Steam and released date is Q1 2027. Note: in the demo, there is two chapters for folks to try out. I had issues with the gamepad as well but play with mouse/keyboard.
Thoughts
Ruin Beast City was the most difficult game I ever played but enjoy presentation and retro style graphic as well. I have managed to beat man and the wolf in multiple playthroughs of the game (video below). The lady with butterflies was the hardest and most annoying boss ever. I had my fair share of hard bosses in video games but I had a good experience with this game. Might and Mushroom was a fun little game and reminds me of Plants Vs Zombies for some reason (I really miss playing third-person shooter game). I have played past indie card-like rogue-like games and wasn’t no strange to it.
In fact, it was easier than other ones I have tried out. I would say, I like Might and Mushroom out of the three indie games tried. TV Archive: Tidy Up Together was difficult for me because there were so many tapes on the floor, I had a panic attack. Solo playthrough was not needed because I couldn’t do it all myself. Luckily, there are some references like Looney Tunes, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and more. The game can be cozy as well but you will need randos or a friend to help you complete this task.
Closing
These are all the indie I have played throughout August and September 2026 but there will be more coming in the near future. What are your thoughts on these games, let me know in the comments. Thank you for reading this blogpost and thank you for reading this blogpost. Tune into the next from yours truly.
